Jinchuan Group Nickel and Cobalt Co's Power Supply Plant leads in sustainable water management. The wastewater treatment, water supply, and oxygen production workshops collaborate to boost energy efficiency and establish a green water management system.
The wastewater treatment workshop uses advanced controls and smart management to treat wastewater, transforming it into valuable resources. This process recycles 12 million metric tons of water a year, reducing fresh water use by 18 percent. This involves the recycling of 200 tons of heavy metal waste, cutting landfill by 30 percent.
The water supply workshop targets low-carbon production by upgrading pump systems with variable frequency controls, adjusting the water flow based on needs, and improving reuse while ensuring stable furnace operations. A soft water reprocessing system further reduces discharge and fresh water consumption.
The oxygen production workshop uses equipment upgrades for green transformation. A new air separation unit with an oxygen production capacity of 50,000 normal cubic meters per hour integrates over 10 energy-saving innovations, and a water-source heat pump system recycles waste heat for winter heating, reducing energy use. These efforts cut wastewater by 50 percent a year, save 24 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 750 tons.
