Bai Xuefeng, one of six furnace masters sent by Jinchuan Group to Indonesia's PT Kao Rahai Smelters, embarked on his first journey abroad on July 23, 2024. From Jinchang in Gansu province to Indonesia's Halmahera Island, Bai faced numerous challenges but also experienced much personal and professional growth along the way.
After wrapping up his service in the military, Bai joined Jinchuan Group Copper and Precious Metals Co, advancing through various roles over two decades, and repeatedly proving his capability through consistent hard work.
In June 2024, at the age of 42, Bai saw an opportunity to work in Indonesia as a converter furnace master. Drawing on his extensive experience in copper smelting, he felt ready for a new challenge, reminiscent of his early days in the military and his initial job roles, where constant challenges brought growth and fulfillment.
Arriving in Indonesia on July 24, 2024, Bai quickly adapted to his new environment, overcoming language barriers and finding ways of sourcing local products. However, the nickel matte smelting project presented unique challenges, with significant differences in materials and processes from those in China.
Bai's relentless research and collaboration with other experts led to innovations in furnace construction and process optimization. His efforts paid off as furnace lifespans increased to a new record, and production targets were exceeded.
Recognized as a model worker, Bai returned to China for an award, realizing his role as a leader and mentor. Back in Indonesia, he embraced his new responsibilities, inspiring others with his mantra: "With dedication and hard work, any problem can be solved."
Bai continues his journey, ready to conquer new horizons.
