During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), with global industrial chains evolving and China's manufacturing advancing, Jinchuan Group, once a major exporter of raw materials like nickel, cobalt, and copper, has transformed into a major player in the global new energy and high-end manufacturing supply chains.

By the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Jinchuan's revenue was 247.8 billion yuan ($36.26 billion), driven by its world-class polymetallic mines. By 2025, revenues reached 476 billion yuan, with over 60 percent from product sales, highlighting a strategic shift from mining to manufacturing.

At present, 40 percent of Jinchuan's copper is processed into advanced products, 60 percent of its cobalt supports new energy battery materials, and 33 percent of its platinum group metals are transformed into new materials. Deep processing and production services now account for more than half of its output value.

Jinchuan's industrial impact is significant: it ranks second globally in nickel production, third nationally in copper, fourth globally in cobalt, and leads Asia in platinum group metal production. It is now China's top producer of ternary cathode materials.

As the "chain leader" of Gansu province's four major industrial chains — nickel-cobalt, copper, power batteries, and chlor-alkali chemicals — Jinchuan Group has formed an innovation consortium with 43 research institutes and enterprises. Over the past year, these four industrial chains have facilitated the collaborative development of over 140 enterprises within the province.

From mining roots to a global industrial leader, Jinchuan has strategically advanced, achieving notable growth in revenue, output, and efficiency during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
