Kinsenda Copper's CSR series II: Empowering communities through agriculture and education

Updated : March 25, 2026

Kinsenda Copper Co.,Ltd is making a significant impact in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) by addressing critical issues of food security and education, fostering sustainable development and self-sufficiency.

In a region with severe food insecurity, Kinsenda has launched a number of agricultural support projects. The company builds storage facilities and annually donates high-quality corns and vegetable seeds, along with fertilizers, tools, and technical guidance.

By organizing corn cultivation training and constructing poultry farms, Kinsenda promotes agricultural diversification and helps achieve scaled and scientific corn cultivation. As villagers learn modern techniques, some families transition from aid dependency to self-sufficiency, nurturing hope for overcoming poverty.

Kinsenda also emphasizes advanced education. In Twibombele village, the company has built three new schools, renovated two, and employed teachers, addressing schooling challenges there. It offers educational support for employees' children aged 3 to 25, investing $2.4 million since 2013.

Beyond tuition, Kinsenda donates learning materials and constructs sports fields to enrich students' activities. It also promotes skill training programs and collaborates with schools to enhance teacher supply, boosting enrollment rates and mitigating dropout rates.
