Kinsenda Copper Co.,Ltd, a subsidiary of Metorex (Pty) Ltd under Jinchuan Group International Resources Co. Ltd, is located in the Sakania region of Haut-Katanga Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The Kinsenda project began construction in May 2013 and by June 2015, Jinchuan's team had taken over its daily management and operations. By the end of 2017, the project was fully constructed and operational, reaching production capacity in 2018.
This marked its transition from a construction project to a production-oriented mine, with stable and increasing output since 2019, making it a significant growth point for Jinchuan Group's overseas copper industry.
Since Jinchuan's involvement, the company has adhered to the management principle of "Jinchuan-led, East-West integration", focusing on a core team of Chinese employees while uniting local and international staff.
Additionally, Kinsenda is committed to social responsibility, with plans to invest about $5.77 million in community development from 2023 to 2027. Through these efforts, Kinsenda contributes positively to the national economy of the DRC and supports the development of local communities, embodying a model of sustainable and responsible business practices.
