As autumn harvest begins, vast fields of silage corn in Jishishan county, Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture in Gansu province, have entered the optimal period for harvesting. In four townships supported by Jinchuan Group, self-propelled forage harvesters are operating, completing cutting, crushing, and loading in a single process, significantly boosting both efficiency and economic returns.
This year marks the seventh year of Jinchuan Group's industrial support program for silage corn baling in the region. The project focuses on increasing agricultural productivity, farmers' incomes, and rural vitality, with targeted efforts spanning planting, harvesting, and storage.
At the initial stage, the support team invested 1 million yuan ($140,200) in high-quality compound fertilizer tailored to local soil conditions. Later, 2.6 million yuan was allocated to introduce 13 harvesters and 21 baling and wrapping machines, substantially raising the level of mechanization. An additional 1.5 million yuan was used to purchase baling materials and provide operators with insurance, as well as to organize technical training by agricultural experts.
Twenty-four baling sites are operating smoothly, with Jinchuan work teams and villagers working closely to enhance process control and cost management. These efforts are helping to standardize and industrialize silage corn production, strengthen the collective village economy, and boost rural vitalization.
