The All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) has selected 200 technical experts nationwide as 2025 "Craftsmen of the Nation", including four from Gansu province. Among the honorees is Chai Guoliang, a senior engineer and special-grade technician at Jinchuan Group Nickel and Cobalt Co.
With three decades of frontline experience in nickel production, Chai has led breakthroughs in key technologies, contributing to the development of ultra-high-purity electrolytic nickel that broke international monopolies and supplied critical materials for China's aerospace and deep-sea exploration equipment.
His outstanding contributions have earned him accolades such as National Model Worker, National Technical Expert, and Longyuan Craftsman. The innovation studio under his leadership has been recognized as a National Skills Master Studio and a Model Innovation Studio in the industry.
The "Craftsmen of the Nation" initiative, organized by the ACFTU, aims to identify leading skilled talents who demonstrate excellence in leadership, achievement, innovation, dedication, and mentorship. By 2035, the program aims to have cultivated approximately 2,000 national-level master artisans, thereby supporting the development of a high-quality industrial workforce and contributing to China's modernization.
