Jinchuan Group Wire and Cable Co Ltd has been awarded a contract to supply all cables for the Phase I project of the Astana Light Rail Transit (LRT) system in Kazakhstan, underscoring the excellence of its products and reinforcing China's contribution to one of the country's key public transit initiatives. The project stands as another landmark achievement in China-Kazakhstan cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
As the first urban light rail line in Kazakhstan — and the first rail project in Central Asia to fully adopt Chinese standards — the Astana LRT system will rely entirely on Jinchuan Group for its 205 kilometers of required cables.
Since winning the bid, Jinchuan quickly established a dedicated project team to deliver customized cable solutions that address the complex requirements of LRT construction. The cables provided boast a service life more than 30 percent longer than conventional products. To date, 50 percent of the supplies have been delivered, providing strong assurance for the timely opening of the new transit line.
