Automated minecart trains have enabled intelligent transportation at Longshou Mine. Workers remotely control the trains, monitoring the position and status of each vehicle. Leveraging new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing, Jinchuan Group has established a smart mine at Longshou Mine. Progressing from Wi-Fi-based unmanned electric locomotives to 5G-driven projects and culminating in a fully automated 5G+ electric locomotive system, Jinchuan has gradually achieved full automation in mining transportation.
In the control room, workers operate the trains like playing video games, monitoring real-time operational data. Each train pulls 12 ore cars, capable of transporting 108 tons of nickel ore in a single trip. Green lights indicate safe passage for the trains, while red signals a problem, prompting automatic halting. This intelligent control system enhances the efficiency and safety of transportation.
Unmanned mining trains offer numerous advantages. They are fast, time-saving, and low in labor costs. With two electric locomotive heads per train that can automatically switch direction, efficiency is improved. Workers for track switching and ore loading are no longer required, as a single operator can replace the previous need for 12 workers, resulting in significant labor cost savings.
Apart from cost savings, unmanned driving also enhances working conditions and safety. Previously, the cramped, non-air-conditioned driver cabins subjected workers to extreme temperatures. Now, operators can work in comfortable control rooms. This improved working environment has liberated workers and reduced the risk of accidents. Operating minecart trains has become easier, and working conditions have been noticeably improved.
In conclusion, the intelligent transportation system facilitated by unmanned minecart trains has brought significant changes to Longshou Mine. Through the application of new technologies, mining transportation has become more efficient, safe, and comfortable, creating a better working environment for workers.
