The first international freight train on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor departed from Lanzhou Railway Bureau's Jinchang Railway Freight Yard on December 7, carrying ammonia and alkali products from Jinchuan Group's Jinchang Cement Company destined for Laos.
An inauguration ceremony took place as the first international freight train on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor departed from Lanzhou Railway Bureau's Jinchang Railway Freight Yard on December 7.
The departure of the train not only marked a breakthrough in the export of fertilizers from Jinchang but also represented the first application of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor business in the Jinchang area.
To ensure the smooth transportation of the fertilizers, Jinchang Cement Company planned the operation with the Gansu branch of Tianjin COSCO Shipping Logistics Supply Chain. They innovatively used open wagons instead of containers and charted an efficient logistics route from Jinchang, Gansu province of Northwest China by rail to Hekoubei, Yunnan province of Southwest China, and then by truck to Laos, effectively reducing logistics costs by about 20%.

Pan Jingjun, deputy general manager of the company, said the transportation of ammonia and alkali products via the first international freight train on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor from Jinchang to the international market has initiated a new model for the marketing of chemical products and a new direction for the future development of the ammonia and alkali chemical industry.
In recent years, based on the synthesis ammonia and nitric acid facilities in Hexipu Industrial Park, the company has completed the relocation and upgrading project of the synthetic ammonia and alkali unit. The production of ammonium chloride, soda ash, and other products has effectively driven the healthy operation of the regional ammonia and alkali chemical industry chain, forming stable upstream and downstream industrial relationships and achieving good economic and social benefits.
