Jinchuan Group's team provides a training session to farmers in Jishishan county.
On May 12, the Jinchuan Group work team stationed in in the village of Cuijia, Liuji township, in Jishishan county invited Dou Xiaoli, a senior livestock expert from the Animal Husbandry and Green Agriculture Research Institute of Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, to conduct a training session themed "Ecological and Efficient Livestock Farming Techniques for Cattle and Sheep" to the local villagers.
Dou is mainly engaged in research and promotion of animal germplasm resource conservation and utilization, integrated grass-livestock ecological cycle production, artificial mixed grasslands, antibiotic-free farming and beef and dairy sheep industries. He is particularly accomplished in the area of efficient cattle and sheep farming, having led and participated in 34 international cooperation projects, national and provincial scientific projects, and having received 10 provincial and municipal-level scientific awards.
Before the training, Dou conducted on-site investigations in cooperatives, family farms and feed processing areas to learn about the specific conditions of the local breeding industry.
Addressing the problems and difficulties encountered by the local farmers, Dou explained the models of ecological and efficient livestock farming and also imparted knowledge on disease prevention, control and treatment.
"This training session is easy to understand and helps us to solve the very practical problems. We have benefited a lot and hope to have the opportunity to participate in such training again," said a local farmer who took part in the training.
