Roaring machines and tedious tasks are a true portrayal of the production scenes in traditional industries. However, with the assistance of the nickel intelligent loading unit technology newly developed by Yan Ganggang, the director of the nickel electrolysis third workshop at Jinchuan Group Nickel Smelter, the workshop has achieved automation, digitization, and informatization.

Having long been committed to working on the frontier of production sites, Yan has vast expertise and a unique insight in promoting the expansion of the power battery industry chain, downstream processing, and the high-end product development of Jinchuan's precursor materials for ternary batteries. At present, as a technical manager, Yan holds 16 invention patents and 16 utility model patents.
As the leader of the "Upgrading of the Nickel Refining Pressure Leaching System" project, Yan has independently developed key technologies for the pressure leaching production line, achieving the iterative upgrade of Jinchuan's pressure oxidation technology. In recent years, Jinchuan Group, as the first in China to introduce this technology, faced continuous competition from peers and urgently needed to make breakthroughs. Through the innovation of Yan and his team, equipment operation became more stable, and both production and various economic and technical indicators have seen significant improvement.

"The reason I chose Jinchuan to start my career is because it gives me a sense of belonging, like being part of a big family," Yan recalled. In his senior year at the university, he followed his lecturer to Jinchuan Group for a project, and the work environment and team atmosphere left a deep impression on him.
After graduating in 2009 with a major in metallurgical engineering from Sichuan University, Yan has been working at Jinchuan Group for 15 years, where he participated in several technological innovations that have been successfully applied in production. Among them, "A method for iron removal from non-metallic high-nickel matte pressurized leaching solution" won second prize in the 2022 Gansu Provincial Patent Awards. This patented technology takes a leading position at home and can be applied as a reference in the heavy metal metallurgy industry, providing a new approach for iron removal in the metallurgical field.
