On June 29, 2018, the East Poor Mine Development Project of Jinchuan's No.3 Mine was completed and put into operation three months ahead of schedule.
The East Poor Mine Development Project was part of the first batch national demonstration base projects for the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources and a demonstration base project for the comprehensive utilization of the Jinchuan copper-nickel polymetallic mine resources in Gansu province. The completion and operation of the East Poor Mine project signifies a new stage in the utilization and development of Jinchuan mining area's poor mineral resources.
During the construction of the East Poor Mine project, the team encountered the difficult problem of water seepage during shaft excavation. The team innovatively applied the "freezing method" and overcame the water seepage problem, creating conditions for safe underground construction operations. It was the first time using this method in the Jinchuan mining area, serving as a reference for similar engineering construction in Jinchuan's mines.
Furthermore, the project has also applied unmanned driving technology for advancing electric locomotives in underground transportation and production. The formal operation of the unmanned rail transportation system has greatly improved the working environment for underground personnel, reduced the labor intensity of employees, lowered the safety risks of on-site operations and enhanced the efficiency of rail transportation. This has filled the gap in automatic driving technology for underground rail transportation in domestic mines and holds profound significance for promoting the development of unmanned driving technology for electric locomotives in the domestic mining industry.
