The lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. The No.2 Mine of Jinchuan Group adheres to the principles of ecological priority, green and low-carbon development, and firmly shoulders the responsibility of ecological civilization construction and environmental protection. It is committed to carbon reduction, pollution control, and afforestation so as to promote the high-quality and green development of the mine.
In the early stages of mining, there was little awareness of environmental protection in the No.2 Mine area, and the rubble, as the solid waste of the mining process, was discharged without proper treatment for a long time. The increasingly prominent environmental issues became a key problem constraining the rapid development of the mine.
Under this circumstance, the No.2 Mine established a special governance team to tackle the environmental issues of the mining area.

The five solid waste yards in the No.2 Mine cover a total area of 658,900 square meters. The team implemented a layered management plan to tackle the problem of the accumulated solid waste: surface compaction, land leveling, and green plant coverage were carried out at the top; the slope in the middle of the mine was covered with soil and the planting of grass seeds for ecological restoration; measures such as building a masonry retaining wall, constructing drainage channels on the slope, and covering the slope with shrubs and trees were taken at the foot of the mine mountain.
In October 2023, the No.2 Mine passed the assessment of the Ecological and Environmental Bureau of Jinchang city.
At present, the No.2 Mine, as a national-level green mining pilot unit, has accumulated nearly 50,000 square meters of green space and planted 200,000 landscape plants in different varieties. By "dressing the stone piles in green," it has not only achieved pleasing aesthetics but also eliminated the safety hazards and environmental risks posed by the solid waste piles, playing an active role in windbreak and sand fixation, as well as preventing soil erosion.
The No.2 Mine is undergoing a transformation from a barren mountain to a lush land.
