In 2022, Gansu province adhered to the transformation of its traditional industries, constantly promoted the high-end, intellectual and green development of its manufacturing industry, and gave priority to the development of new battery materials, new steel materials and new chemical materials, based on the resources advantages of copper, nickel, cobalt and electricity.
Jinchuan Group has promoted the transformation of the nickel-cobalt industry to new energy battery materials and the upgrading of nickel-copper alloys and precious metals to intensive processing. In 2022, the company approved 73 projects, with 54 having started construction. Meanwhile, Jinchuan Group has actively explored the new direction of development, investing 2.33 billion yuan (about $340 million) in strategic emerging industries - an increase of 195.0% year-on-year.
In the last year, Gansu province has focused on improving the quality of its development. The region's investment in the technological transformation of its manufacturing industry increased by 57.7% year-on-year, 45.7 percentage points higher than the annual target. As a sophisticated state-owned enterprise, Lanzhou LS Group Co., Ltd. not only saw 7.57 billion yuan of new orders in equipment manufacturing, with an increase of 29.02% year-on-year, but also achieved 4.53 billion yuan in orders in transformational and upgrading business, up 107.13% year-on-year.

At the same time, Gansu province has also accelerated the construction of a green and low-carbon transformation framework. On the basis of ensuring a safe and stable industrial chain and supply chain, Gansu has promoted the application of new technologies, new processes and new equipment, in a bid to promote the green and low-carbon development of its manufacturing industry. At present, the "sulfur-phosphorus-iron–titanium-lithium" green recycling industry project in Gansu province is under construction.
In the first 11 months of 2022, the added industrial value of businesses above designated size in Gansu increased by 6.4% year-on-year, ranking 12th in the country; industrial fixed asset investment increased by 60.1%, ranking 1st in the country for two consecutive years.
In the new year, Gansu province will further promote new industrialization and economic development in the region.
