An evaluation of copper wire producing enterprises in 2020 has brought the public’s attention to Jinchuan Group Wire and Cable Co., Ltd. With 116,338 votes, the company finally ranked 1st in the 2020 list of China high-quality copper wire producers.

The former name of Jinchuan Group Wire and Cable was Jinchuan Company Wire and Cable Plant, and it was founded in the late 1980s. Without a clear development strategy, long-term goals, advanced management, technologies, talents, or the support of capital, the company struggled when first founded.
Fortunately, with the expansion and strengthening of Jinchuan Group and the adjustment and transformation of its industrial structure, the wire and cable plant has gone through a technical transformation and product upgrading, having introduced and invested in a 5,000 ton copper rod up-leading furnace and a 100,000 ton copper rod continuous casting and rolling production line. The product output was greatly improved, forming thousands of specifications of products, ranging from electrical equipment wires to medium-low voltage cross-linked wires and cables, as well as electrical copper rods and copper wire products. By 2013, the total industrial output value increased from 84.5 million yuan (about $13 million) in 1998 to about 1.87 billion yuan, and the output of copper rod and wire increased from 5,000 tons/year to 158,800 tons.
However, while the company was developing at a high speed, the global financial crisis saw the wire and cable, copper rod wire and even the whole non-ferrous metal industry suffer a huge impact. After in-depth research and discussion, the company focused on the three markets of the western region, coastal region and foreign markets, and utilizing the strong copper resource advantages of Jinchuan Group, the company increased its investment in technology, expanded its production capacity, introduced a 300,000 tons/year copper rod and wire continuous casting and rolling production line, and developed industrial technical and scale advantages, with the goal of building the largest copper rod, wire and cable base in western China.

During this period, it was rebranded as Jinchuan Group Wire and Cable Co., Ltd. under the promotion of the Jinchuan Group's market-oriented reform strategy of "improving quality and efficiency with transformation and upgrading". By the end of 2019, its industrial output value reached 16.4 billion yuan, 8.79 times that of 2013; the output of copper rod and wire products reached 386,000 tons, more than double that of 2013, which saw the company rank among the top 20 Chinese wire and cable manufacturers.
This evaluation activity enabled Jinchuan Group Wire and Cable to attract attention from those in Jinchang with a high profile. In the future, the company will continue to be committed to promoting the bright business card of "Jinchang, the capital of nickel".
