The industrial fabric and bag manufacturing section of the Nickel-Metropolis Industrial Company, a subsidiary of Jinchuan Group Co., Ltd., donated 200,000 yuan (approximately $29,666.99) worth of flood relief supplies to Zhouqu county of Gannan, a Tibetan autonomous prefecture, in Northwest China’s Gansu province. The company’s employees loaded supplies onto the trucks overnight, on Aug 27, 2020.

The donations included 40,000 woven bags and 800 ton bags, and were transferred to the flood-stricken townships and villages of Zhouqu county.

Since Aug 6, four heavy rainfalls have occurred in Zhouqu, with a cumulative precipitation of 257.5 mm, causing floods. Qugaona township was hit worst with the rainfall reaching 170 to 180 mm, damaging roads, power supplies and communications. The disaster has affected more than 60,000 people in 19 townships and villages, and 108 natural villages were left isolated due to traffic disruptions.
Jinchuan Group said it will continue to focus upon and support flood relief work, actively fulfilling its social responsibilities, and highlighting its duties as a state-owned enterprise.
